If you want to get a flat stomach in a week a lot will depend on where you're starting out from. One week might be too short for some people to achieve this but if you're already in quite good shape then you can tweak your diet and work out to achieve a flat stomach in as less as a week.
As far as food goes it's best to eat only natural and whole foods. This means cutting out all artificial, processed foods and eating only fresh meat, vegetables and fruits. Depending on your level of dedication you can even skip meals during the week and further tone your body.
Avoid all grains and sugars and hydrogenated oils. Get enough sleep. Don't do long cardio exercises. Instead do short, intense sprints and do plank holds instead of crunches. These exercises are far more effective than traditional routines. Do these workouts on an empty stomach to get even more bang for your buck.
If you want to tone your abs in a week, prepare to diet down and tolerate some hunger pangs in the first couple of days. You should follow this strategy only for some special occasion, though. To really be able to sustain a lifestyle which would maintain low body fat levels for a long time you should slowly move to a pattern which is pretty much an extension of that one week but with a little more flexibility.
Eating only natural foods and avoiding grains and sugar can go a long way in making your body fat level stay low all the time without having to work out everyday. This approach also doesn't harm your body in the long run. You also need to get enough sleep and rest and enjoy life to combat the inevitable stress of modern life.
